Flight tracks are maps that show
what is happening in the air as
planes arrive to and depart PTIA.
The maps use a process of marking a
“backbone” track as well as eight
“sub-tracks” to indicate the
variation that occurs within
established patterns.
The maps that are currently posted
represent current air traffic
patterns and are based on actual
radar data. These maps serve as the
base case for looking at flight
patterns and making recommendations
for flight protocol that best serves
the purposes of the air carriers
while minimizing the noise impact in
the area.
