Public Involvement

To ensure that the Noise Compatibility plan is informed by input from the Triad community, three committees have been established to serve in an advisory capacity to those conducting the study. As one aspect of the FAR Part 150 Study, the committees provide the perspective of citizens, government agencies and airport users to the airport noise analyses and resulting noise management plan.

Each committee member will consider and comment on the analyses of noise exposure and noise impacts, recommendations and analyses of potential noise abatement measures, as well as the Noise Compatibility Programs reports. All three committees held their initial meeting in June 2004 and will meet quarterly over the next two years. Meetings are working sessions, but they are open to the public.

The committees are:

Citizens Advisory Committee - This committee is made up of 25 people (plus several alternates) from six airport area zones from across Greensboro, Guilford County, High Point, Kernersville, Forsyth County, Summerfield and Oak Ridge.  The committee reflects a range of interests and viewpoints, including people who have opposed the airport expansion project and those who have supported it.

Government Advisory Committee - This committee involves the seven cities, towns and counties in the vicinity of the airport as well as representatives of state and federal agencies that are concerned with airports and land use planning.

Airport Users Advisory Committee – Each of the major airlines, cargo carriers, general aviation companies, corporate aviation facilities and other airport tenants have a representative on this committee.
